Oliva Talks: Placed Canadians in the Cannes Spotlight


FMA’s participant Danica Oliva was in Cannes representing Doe Eye Media as the company continues their project “Made In Canada”- a documentary released in 2009, to shed light on the issues, successes, talent, struggles, and everything that has to do with the Canadian film industry.

Danica Oliva is on the cusp of a career in film. She is graduating into an industry where the old paradigm of first you make, then you market it is no longer valid or an option. VOD revenues have Box Office earnings looking over its shoulder and driving the need for Content Creators/Producers to deploy a social media strategy right out the gate, and do so in tandem with the development, production and marketing of their content.

How are Canadian content producers grappling with this paradigm shift; are there real career opportunities for Danica in this new world of content creation; what are the hoped for benefits that can be realized from a visit to a Festival/Market like Cannes?
